Should I use Mermac® Mink Oil on leather?
The best of leather will dry and crack over time or if the animal oils were removed in the tanning process. If the fibers of working leather are not lubricated, they rub and cut each other, causing rapid deterioration. Mermac® Mink Oil lubricates leather, giving protective conditioning and waterproofing. In the processing of mink oil tanned leather, the raw leather will absorb 23 lbs of mink oil to 100 lbs of raw leather. The animal oils will adhere to the leather fibers with lasting results. Petroleum-based products, on the other hand, will soon rise to the surface to wash, rub, or evaporate away.
Mermac® Mink Oil is the life’s blood in preserving, conditioning, and waterproofing good leather and vinyl. Sportsmen use it on their gun cases, baseball gloves, shoes, boots, soccer balls, jackets, and endless other items. Its uses are endless!
What are the benefits of applying mink oil to vinyl?
Mermac® Mink Oil is proven protection for both fine smooth leathers and many plastic items. It conditions and weatherproofs leather. It also replaces the original plasticizer that evaporates from plastic, which causes it to become brittle, cracked, and unusable.
What’s Mermac® Mink Oil made of?
While many competitive products are petroleum-based, Mermac® Mink Oil is 100% animal oils. Pure mink oil is combined with other ingredients, including tallow and beeswax, to satisfy the requirements of anyone who uses leather: sportsmen, construction workers, loggers, tree cutters, recreationists, etc. It is nontoxic and could even be consumed without ill effects. Its shelf life is indefinite. It will not dry out or deteriorate.
Are Mermac® Mink Oil products easy to apply?
Mermac® Mink Oil is very easy to apply and melts at hand temperature. It quickly penetrates the leather when rubbed into it. It becomes part of the leather, unlike petroleum-based products. Any mink oil remaining on the surface after application can be wiped away within fifteen minutes or so, and the surface will be dry enough to shine with polish or wax or just leave natural. It will not rub off.
Why is beeswax added to your products?
An important ingredient added to the tallow base and leather-saving mink oil is beeswax. It blends with the ingredients to further protect the leather from moisture and increases the waterproofing qualities of mink oil, while still allowing the leather to breathe.
My feet get wet and cold from the perspiration in my boots. Will applying mink oil help?
Silicone and petroleum-based products act only as waterproofings, and they are readily flushed away in a short period of time with hard use. They retain perspiration in shoes or boots, resulting in wet footwear and cold feet in cold weather. Mink oil lets the leather breathe. There is no retention of moisture or wet feet within the leather, a factor in deterioration.
I’m a construction worker and the concrete destroys my boots. Can treating my footwear with Mermac® Mink Oil help?
Mermac® Mink Oil provides a protective shield against salts, manure acids, molds, and mildews destructive to any leather. People working around concrete and farm lots find it devastating to their shoes. These same people find, when they treat their footwear with Mermac® Mink Oil, that their shoes and boots last far longer. Properties of Mermac just don’t allow these destructive ingredients to remain. They can be flushed away.
